To start off a Sword Coast Adventures campaign, the ideal adventuring group should consist of a cleric, a fighter, a rogue, and a wizard. The races do not matter but be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of being one of these races: dwarf, elf, halfling, human, dragonborn, gnome, half-elf, half-orc, and tiefling.

A cleric is a healer and also help fend off the undead.

A fighter is the “tank” of the group, helping to draw the attention of enemies while others in the group help to attack. For example, the wizard with low constitution can use the ranged attacks using spellcasting while the fighter performs the melee attacks with the weapon (sword and shield).

A rogue is the important part of the team in its right, the rogue can detect and disable traps so the team members will not be ensnared by the traps.

A wizard, as mentioned in fighter’s description, can do ranged attacks like magic missiles and cast several spells like cast an object to light up the darkened room or conjure an acid splash to stun an enemy.
